Kids Ministry: LOFT Skit—Raising of Lazarus

April 4/5, 2020

Jump into the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the grave (John 11:1–44) in this reenactment brought to you by the Bachman family!

You can find the scripture:

Reflection Questions:

– Why were Lazarus’ sisters mad at Jesus?
– Why didn’t Jesus come right away?
– Can you think of a time that you wanted something right away, but it was better that you got it later?
– In this time of waiting, how can you focus on Jesus?
– Even though you are likely tired of waiting, how can you use your large amount of free time to grow in your faith?

“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

April 2: Bread (for communion)

We’ve been given special permission—because of the season we’re living in—by our bishop to virtually participate in Holy Communion. We’re asking you to purchase some grape juice and bread/crackers in advance so you can have the elements ready in your home this weekend while you participate in one of our four LIVE online gatherings.

Another option is to make your Communion bread!
Enid Akers Perez has put together a recipe video for Braided Challah if you (and your family) would like to create your communion bread from scratch! Follow along for a step by step instruction of how to prepare, knead, bake and serve the challah in the video below. You can also find a printable recipe here:

One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, and he began to teach them.

“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
God blesses those who are humble,
for they will inherit the whole earth.
God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they will be satisfied.
God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God.
God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

“God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.
