Counseling Services Offered

UCUMC has entered into a partnership with Heart Peace Counseling Center to offer counseling services here at the church. The Center currently offers appointments with two professional counselors, Michelle Patterson and Lauren Wycuff.

Rates are reasonable; discounts apply for regular church attenders and some scholarship assistance may be available. The center is transitioning to a totally self-pay status, but will provide receipts for reimbursement from insurance companies.

Sessions are by appointment; Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and one Saturday per month. To make an appointment, please contact the counselors directly (see below).

Michelle Patterson, a licensed mental health counselor and EMDR therapist (founder of Heart Peace Counseling Center), can help you manage stress, deal with marriage and family issues, and overcome life challenges, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, PTSD, trauma, childhood sexual abuse and low self-worth. Michelle is trained in Prepare/Enrich inventories for couples, and has attended Gottman Method couples’ trainings. She is a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).

Lauren Wycuff  is a registered intern working toward licensure of Mental Health Counselor, utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques and an integrative approach. She has worked with adolescents and young adults for more than 8 years and has experience counseling various individuals and families. She has a heart to meet people where they are and help them grow in healthy ways, finding peace that guards their hearts and minds (Philippians 4:7) and becoming empowered to make necessary choices and changes. Lauren’s strengths include encouragement, seeing people as Christ sees them, being empathetic, compassionate and non-judgmental.
